It only made things worse- and confirmed my fears. It seems the major reason is it takes the 'hassle' out of travel.
Isnt that half the fun? The adventure? Getting a little (or, if youre me, very (sometimes on purpose)) lost, trying to speak new languages, navigating new restaurants where you dont know what youre ordering. I love all of that weirdness.
This article meant to reassure and 'sell' the experience made me panicky:
18 Reasons Why People Take Cruises
Dont get me wrong, good article. Great for people who are looking for that experience. But to me- It just confirmed all of my fears of being trapped in one relatively large space with the same people for a week straight. I just picture all of the tourists and touristy things I avoid when I travel all in one little ship. Everything I avoid when I travel there at my convenience- in abundance. Law of attraction here, I think way too much about things Id like to avoid.
The worst part of travel for me is getting there. The longest day Ive spent travelling was 36 hours of flying time.
So instead of 36 hours, what a cruise seems to do is stretch travel time into days. Days of travel time.
Prefrozen meals... Tourists.
I just get stir crazy cabin fever even thinking about it. Maybe if I had a group of my best friends there. Actually, even then then, Id rather just fly some awesome place....
